On the third Sunday of August, Como Park hosts a Japanese lantern lighting festival. I was asked to be an attendant to this koto player. She played as lanterns were lit and floated across a pond.
This is one of the koi that are in the Japanese Garden pond at Como Park. Koi are really carp. The colors are from mutations that have occured within the last 200 years or so.
My Tuesday afternoon volunteering in the Japanese Garden included some rain last week. I brought my camera along
anticipating this photo opportunity. The rocks look really great when they are wet. The tree bark also appears nice and black. Also, an overcast sky minimizes washed out highlights.
