Como Park Conservtory

Microsoft has a new tool for web sites that really makes for an exciting user experience, Silverlight. To see it in action go to Hard Rock Memorabilia and down load the plug in. You can zoom in on any of the hundred plus photos or drag the screen without delaying reloads. This is a killer application. Here is a link to the Silverlight 2 Beta 1 download.

The Grotto

I was road tripping last week and stopped to check out this church yard. Some priest apparently had too much time on his hands and single handedly built this in about 5 years in the early 1920s. Click this to see a larger version.

I woke up to close windows last night but the wind slammed two doors shut. The wind whistling under the door was scary, but when I heard several loud "cracks" I knew trees were coming down. This is the third major wind storm in nine years. Each one took down over a thousand trees many of which are over a hundred years old. To see a full screen slideshow click on the player and a new window appears. Then click slide show from the right column.

Ann and I went to a bluegrass festival last weekend.

Beautiful weather and setting. More than a dozen bands that played under a tent from 11am till 10pm. I shot this video with my Lumix FX3. It shoots 16X9 widescreen. Not too bad for a camera that fits in your shirt pocket (5oz &1x2x4in)

George Maher was a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed a bank in the Egyptian Revival style with prairy school influences.

Two huge 37 ft, 32 ton columns are each made of a single piece og granite. The bank interior is polished white marble everywhere. Tiffany Studios created all of the stained glass windows.

We went on an architectural walking tour in Winona, MN. last Friday. One of my favorites was this bank designed by Purcell and Elmslie, I used my Lumix FX3 set for no flash and image stablization. I used Picasa to edit them, exported them resized to 1200px to my pictures folder in Windows XP, then batch uploaded them to my VOX photos. This really makes the building and blogging about collections of photos flow.
